DL E&C Performs Digital Innovation Drive Throughout Management in Alliance with Palantir

DL E&C announced on the 24th that it would construct DLake system, a big data-based management platform, in alliance with Palantir for the first time in the construction industry. With the Fourth Industrial Revolution-led data technology industry accelerating centered on cloud service, DL E&C plans to establish a company-wide data management system by the second half of 2022 by adopting the cloud-based data platform.
As a US data platform software company with excellent big data processing technology, Palantir is providing its services to 227 customers including government offices including the US Army and private companies such as Air Bus and Ferrari as of end of March 2022.
DL E&C employs a strategy of drawing even hidden meanings in big data and applying the interpreted results to work and consolidates capability to communicate with data by developing DLake. The DLake system will gather 67 work systems data developed and used by DL E&C into a single cloud and integrate and manage them. Through this, an enhanced data use possibility function is expected to be offered so that data-based decision making can be carried out in all areas of work including customers, goods, designs, BIM, construction, quality, and safety.
Above all, the company is performing upgrade of the top-level BIM in the construction sector to the 7D (dimensions) level through DLake. DL E&C plans to realize 7D by adding process, cost, purchase, and quality information to the existing 3D information-based BIM model. It intends to embody a construction site management platform to show a massive gap centered on BIM technology by connecting and expanding all construction data.
Major decision making at the customer-tailored goods development and servicer planning phase will be performed using DLake. The DLake system will integrate and manage customer experiences by dwelling phase, from the moment a customer encounters the product to contract, moving in, and residing. DL E&C plans to analyze customer needs based on data by quickly grasping customers’ lifestyle change and create a virtuous circle structure reflecting the analysis results to the goods and services. The company wants to use accidents and quality defects occurring during construction for the determination of technology adoption in order to find the root causes and prevent accidents in advance based on data.
