Michael Shellenberger, the founder of the organisation “Public” and esteemed essayist Brendan O’Neill recently had a conversation, available exclusively to O’Neill’s subscribers, about the rise of cancel culture and the Censorship Industrial Complex. They discussed how nihilism has allowed for the hijacking of people’s thoughts and feelings, and how “misinformation” can trick the brain. Additionally, they are working on a project together that Shellenberger has great hope for, with more news expected later this fall.
Brendan O’Neill and I discuss how people demanding censorship hijack thoughts and feelings
Readers of this publication know of our admiration of the essayist Brendan O’Neill, the greatest living British heir to George Orwell and author of the dazzling new book, The Heretic’s Manifesto. We were thrilled to publish chapters from it on freedom of speech and transgenderism. Few public intellectuals writing today are standing stronger against pathological Woke, covidist, and climatist extremism than O’Neill.
I was thus happy to participate in a live conversation with him, exclusive to his subscribers, to discuss how nihilism gave rise to cancel culture, which gave rise to the Censorship Industrial Complex. We are working on another project that gives me great hope. Stay tuned for, hopefully, more news on that later this fall. For now, here are some highlights of our talk.
